Modalert 200 is a medication used to increase wakefulness in persons with shift work sleep disorder, obstructive sleep apnea, or narcolepsy who suffer from excessive sleepiness. It should not be used to treat fatigue or postpone sleep in those who do not have a sleep issue. It is not a replacement for getting enough sleep. It is critical that you adhere to the recommendations made by your physician regarding healthy sleeping practices and that you finish any additional treatments for your sleep issue, such as a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine if you have sleep apnea.
